Are you a business that is trying to evolve during the COVID-19 pandemic? Are all of your employees suddenly remote, and you need to find a communication software that will work?
Our team at Eternity implemented Slack two years ago, and have built our process around the software itself. For example, we collaborate with our employees, but we also utilize Slack to keep the communication lines open between our team and our clients.
Without Slack, our team would not be nearly as successful as we are. Our clients wouldn't hear from us as often, and our projects would not run nearly as smoothly if it weren't for the intuitive and easy to use software that everyone should be using before going into 2021.
Before you take the plunge and make the investment, we are going to tell you a little bit more about Slack and why it is the best collaboration tool out there.
What is Slack?
Slack is a collaboration software, and a channel-based messaging platform. It allows people to work together more effectively and find the information they need in order to do their best work. It allows you to connect all your software tools and services, and is all within a secure, enterprise-grade environment.
In other words, it is the piece that you and your team has been missing. Slack is not like Microsoft Teams, or other collaboration software. It is a one-stop-shop when it comes to communicating with both employees and clients throughout the day.
What Can you do in Slack?
Organized conversations
Your team can chat internally through channels, and share messages or files. You can create a channel for teams, projects, office locations, or anything else that is relevant to your business. In addition, you have the ability to make channels private for conversations that shouldn't involved all team members. Eternity uses the channels to collaborate with externals organizations, otherwise known as our clients.
Searchable history
In Slack, you can search for messages and files that are shared in public channels. You can also search through your team's conversation history when looking for relevant messages, files, channels, and even people. This allows for conversation to become institutional knowledge.
Connected apps
Another feature that has benefited Eternity is the ability to add apps to your workspace in order to connect services or tools that you are already using to Slack. We have found the right apps that allow for our workspace to remain within Slack, while providing a productive, organized and efficient work environment.
Slack calls
We benefited from this feature the most when the COVID-19 pandemic began. Prior to the pandemic, we did our best to have as many in-person visits as possible. However, Slack has made this difficult transition rather seamless, due to the fact that you can start a call or video call with any other member within your workspace right from Slack. You can also share your screen to show your teammates exactly what you see on your computer — while also drawing on your screen to keep things interactive.
Your Slack Teams
When you are working in Slack, you have a workspace that has a team of members. Each member has different administrative permissions. They go as follows:
Workspace Owners
As a workspace owner, you create the workspace and set permissions
Workspace Admins
As a workspace admin, you are assigned by Workspace Owners to help manage the team
Members
As a member, you can send messages and files to any team members in their workspace
Guests
As a guest (in our case, our clients) you can send messages and files in specific channels
Slack Pricing
Although Slack does offer a free version with basic features, our team at Eternity has invested in a pricing plan due to overall convenience. We highly recommend trying the free version if you are hesitant, and later on making an investment if you feel that your business could benefit.

Now is the time to invest in a collaboration software that will enable you and your team to maintain an efficient work environment. Evolving as a business is crucial, now more than ever. Ensure that your clients and your employees are able to do their jobs, from wherever, whenever. Slack can help you make that happen.
