Website RFP Template

What belongs in a website RFP

The best RFPs we receive are shorter than you'd expect and clearer about outcomes. Six things do most of the work: what the site needs to accomplish in business terms, who it's for, what you already have that's staying, your real budget range, your decision timeline, and who signs off.

What to leave out

Skip the feature checklist. Asking for a specific CMS, framework, or plugin list before anyone understands the problem narrows your field to vendors who own that hammer. Describe what you need to happen and let the responses tell you something.

On budget ranges

Withholding a number rarely gets you better pricing. It gets you proposals scoped at wildly different sizes that you can't compare side by side.
